Plenty to See Here!

Haley was thrilled when Greg asked if she would like to go to an EE Football Team game one summer evening when she was four and a half.  This was an opportunity brimming with adventure, and much to the chagrin of her older brother Brendan, Haley was all in.  In his mind, he was the true sports fan in the house, and it pained him to watch Haley heading off to the game to sit in a seat that should have been occupied by him.

The first excitement was getting there – our EE team, in conjunction with the City of Edmonton, operate a convenient and efficient park and ride system on game days.  For our family, that meant parking about 10 minutes from home at West Edmonton Mall and jumping on a bus that delivered us to Commonwealth Stadium.  Our stadium is in the north-central part of our city, an older area with more than its share of worn buildings and homeless people – just a different view of the world than our kids were accustomed to seeing.  Haley took it all in through the window of the bus.  “Plenty to see here!” she chirped to Greg as they cruised through areas she’d never seen before.

Plenty to see here - the perfect response when something unexpected comes my way - just be in the moment and appreciate the change of scenery!
